I’ve been trying to get some things done before the weekend… but instead i’ve spent nearly 2hrs constantly on my phone, so I’ve decided to turn it off! A brave move for me… well divert all calls to voicemail anyway.
I’d never really realised but I think this is my big weakness… I’m constantly getting txt and email, so I never finish anything… how come I hadn’t noticed this before??
Can’t believe I didn’t spot this earlier, I’ve already cut down the hours I have MSN on as that was an even worse distraction… how come I didn’t realise the same was true for my phone? I blame brain failure, it happens to us all sometimes…
So from now on, if you call me, don’t be suprised if you get the machine.. if it’s urgent ring the landline.
Funny how I feel obligated to be available 24/7, I feel guilty turning my phone off! Why?
If I was working for someone else, I wouldn’t answer all these calls n email straight away… that comes back to the whole working for yourself issue where people assume that you are always available becuase you set your own hours… which while that is true to an extent, it doesn’t mean you’re not “at work”.
Hopefully you all understand, I’m going into stealth mode to get more done… and I make no apologies for it.
UPDATE: Wow, I got 10x as much work done this afternoon (with my phone off) than on any day for ages… hmmm, sorry if the above seemed like a rant, it wasn’t meant that way!
