from “Chrimbo Deco Dilembo” to Human 3.0 in one post

Decorations in Bournemouth town are poor and lacking everywhere.. some exceptions (the square) but offices/shops/flats… don’t seem to have any!? Booo!

And with this, I find myself at an odd impasse.

On the one hand, I’m starting to see myself as more of an evangelical atheist, I believe that there is an underlying power behind all things called “nature” and not some unproven deity with 6 arms or whatever, but, I’m disgusted at the fact workplaces are not celebrating Christmas.

Whilst these two things seem at odds, I don’t think they need be. To value ones heritage is not to contradict the view that we need to move on from “whence we came”

To me, believing in the unexplained is one thing, having an open mind is another… but, to advocate a theory with no proof that contradicts established and immensely documented science, to the detriment of furthering scientific knowledge is dangerous!

I used to accept that people believed in things and that was ok, I didn’t, but that was my choice. Increasingly I’m taking the line that these beliefs holds us back from our true potential to evolve, causes divisions in society and, whilst I admire the values inherent in most of these beliefs, I think religion is generally a bad thing for society as a whole.

Human 3.0

Primitive man didn’t understand the world around him, he thought volcanoes were gods… all things were a mystery… life was survival

Modern man invented, explored and understood lots of the world, his beliefs evolved away from those things he now understood… a volcano isn’t a god, its a geo-thermal whodyamaflip that we understand…

what comes next?

Well, we need to evolve again, I think we’re on the edge of another evolutionary type stage. DNA is going to be mostly decoded in our life time, we can implant tehcnology into our bodies, all people could be connected to all knowledge via the internet… science is answering some of the big questions about the creation of the universe…

is this Human 3.0 perhaps?

Yeah I like that, I’m not an atheist… that be like saying I’m a non-tooth-fairy believer… it defines what I’m not.

Human 3.0 – I might start a wiki to define it… hmmm… anyway… it’s late and I’m prattling on now on increasingly random tangents. Night world.

PS Apologies for the lack of posts recently, weddings n company formations, DJing n dayjobs… flatmate manouverings n project plannings makes Luke a busy boy.

Since when were tornados and twisters a feature of UK weather??

They’ve even issued a Tornado warning… we have a Tornado warning centre???

Am I losing the plot or until last year… had there been like ZERO tornado/twister things in the UK?

UK Twister

It’s ok kids, remember, George Bush says the planet is fine… Carbon Emissions are NOT a problem and Global Warming certainly isn’t real…

essential party fashion for 2007

essential party fashion for 2007

What a beauty of a weekend! Toko, got going late… rocked till they dropped…. Hed Kandi, usual rammer-jammer mayhem… then… well… the cherry on the cake…

luke dubyah essential party accessories

erm… what can I add to explain.. that??

You see I was invited to a legendary party at the weekend, at some point just before leaving I decided to dress up and take as many accessories as I could (2 hats, scarf and leo the lizard) for no real reason.

Quite frankly it’s a hard life… turning up to glamourous parties with 3 lovely ladies, a bottle of jack and a 3ft plastic lizard. (“hi, would you like to stroke my lizard..”)

For the record, all good parties should include the following:

– decent tunes on a decent system
– Jack Daniels + Tequila
– 3ft long plastic lizards
– smoke machine
– selection of comedy hats
– more lovely ladies than men
– samosas
– lap dancing pole
– rubber chicken
– jacuzzi and/or hot tub

Life rocks!!

Jaw Ache

A routine filling at the dentist, went a little bit Pete Tong yesterday.

It was all going ok, until they couldn’t get the sucky thing to work well, so they had to put a second one in.

When she resumed the drilling (or whatever the hell that whirry thing does) she opened my mouth a bit wider, there was an odd pop and my ears kind of felt funny… seemed ok, the local anaesthetic was doing its job.

Then when she asked me to bite on the new filling… I couldn’t.

This kinda weirded me out a bit… I couldn’t shut my mouth! I mumbled “I can’t” and kept quite calm…

…until the dentist looked down and went “oh”

then I freaked out a bit! Why couldn’t I shut my mouth???

Dentist and the technician look a bit confused at each other, then one of them fetches the other dentist from next door… who promptly tells me to relax and places both thumbs inside my mouth and then pops my jaw back into place. ow.

It still aches today but I don’t think there’s any lasting damage… couldn’t talk for about 4 hours yesterday, but some would probably say that’s a blessing…

Anyway, old Luke would of said “stuff this for a game of cricket” but not now… I calmly booked my next 6 month check out and wandered home.
