some progress, mostly frustration

Gaaaaahhhhhh :: pain type annoyed noise ::

The surgery or boots has messed up my repeat prescription, so I’ve had to go from the elephant tranquillizing ones down to ibuprofen for today and tomo… not good. (yes I could do a call out on my surgery but I can survive)

My movement is already reduced loads, at this rate I won’t be able to walk to the pharmacy on Monday! - it took long enough today and I had to stop on the way home and sit on the wall for a bit (if you’ve never seen my flat… it’s normally a 2minute walk).

It’s so frustrating!!!!

I don’t know why but I keep hearing a quote from a film (maybe pulp fiction?) “Feel that pain? That’s pride f***ing with ya” - I really want to do things myself but I’m approaching that point again where I probably should ask for help. Stupid Reiter’s Syndrome!

It’s affecting my sleep again quite badly which is making it harder for me to focus on work, although I’m still determined to finish the site rebuild and final draft for release on Thursday… more important though… I don’t want to be an invalid when I go see Lucy :-(

Txt me (or comment… facebook poke me, whatever) say hello, help me to not go insane.

Looking forward

Wooohoo a second day of noticeable progress, I’m careful not to get too excited in case this is just a boost from the steroids, but yay! The swellings gone down again, I can almost see my knee cap and those pointy bits on my ankles are starting to show themselves… “hello mr kneecap, so nice to see you!”

It’s going to take a good while yet, but its encouraging that there is finally some progress.

me n a groovy sunset
(props to Mr M on this photo, bit old now but still a beauty)

So now i’m finding it a bit easier to look forward to the big “what next?”… hmmm… well it starts by sorting my flat out and getting the book first draft finally nailed.

then what…

push back into DJing maybe towards the end of next month… perhaps…

maybe a new start in hamster breeding? :-) nah…

perhaps a return to the world of work… hmmm…

lets get the health sorted, the book out, sort my flat out and then see

yay progress

Finally some progress! Today was the first day I woke up and the swelling had gone down, not stayed the same or got worse… woooo!

Hopefully this will continue now i’m back on the anti-inflam and with the turbo boost of the steroids.

Woop

UPDATE: Topical spam… I’ve just had an email offering me cheap Tramadol.. no ta, I got 2 boxes already! :-)

ouch

so the knee, toes and ankles are more swollen again… i’ve spoken to my doctor and I’m changing tablets again, plus… and here’s the scary bit… they’re going to give me intramuscular (updated from inter-m) steroid injections this afternoon… EEK! The doctor said it will be painful, they normally say they won’t hurt much.. and they do… so yikes!

Seeing how I can’t bend my left knee much, or my right toes at all (and they feel like they’re about to pop!), or put weight on either ankle… it’s gotta be a step in the right direction.

Hamster… I’m still undecided, it would be cool to have a pet, but i don’t have a good track record of looking after things. Anyone got any spider plants btw? I want to get some, i managed to keep one for years as a kid so how hard can it be… plus i read they’re one of the best for oxygenating a room.

Think about me, send me “it wont hurt and it’ll fix it” vibes for this afternoon

ground control to major tom

its been a weird few days, on saturday i started getting side effects from the anti-inflamatories i’ve been taking since dec.

After consulting with nhs direct, i stopped taking them and contacted my doctor first thing monday, after a phone consultation (incidentally props to my doctors surgery, you can’t get an appt same day, but you can get a phone call, if you then need an appt in you go same day, a brilliant way of doing it) i went in for some tests, blood pressure, pulse n stuff.

The doctor then prescribed me some tablets to counteract the side effects and told me to switch to paracetamol - plus another prescription in case they didn’t have any impact.

By tues morning i could barely move, my left knee has now swollen up

knees

and the toes on my right foot are so big they don’t bend anymore. :-(

feet

After much cursing i picked up my new painkillers tramadol something or other…

Christ on a bike! They’ve not done anything so far to counter the swelling, they have made the pain manageable… and turned me into a complete space cadet! Weeeee!

I’ve also now hit a milestone… I’m on my 10th prescription! check out these badboys:

tablets

So now its 6am, i can’t sleep (is this a reversal too of the excessive sleep i had needed?) i’m in bed with a moderate head spin pondering the worlds mysteries.

Apologies this isn’t another cute animal post - thanks for all the hamster opinions, keep them coming - but i needed to do something to occupy my mind… Hopefully i can now drift back into sleep…

Update: still in bed, dozed but no real sleep, just waiting for my morning dose to kick in, then i’ll be uploading the pics.

I’ve been pondering getting a hamster to keep me amused during my period of illness… what do you reckon?
