Bike Club 2008

Bike Club 2008

I’d like to propose the first outing of 2008 for Bike Club!!!

Monday 645pm Bournemouth Pier (usually to the left as you look at it).

Fixed the bike up yesterday (back wheel needed some love, some rim tape and a new inner tube) and took it out for a short trundle to test the knee today.

bomo beach in April

Didn’t seem too bad, knees felt a bit shaky for a while when I got back, didn’t really put any effort in either.

Lovely day down here, a bit windy n cold but the beach looked lovely. Went to the Durley and back, lower gears than I’d normally use to make it less effort/stress onto the joint.

Verdict:~ Gentle rides to build up the strength, I reckon will be fine.

Hereford

Hereford

Had a really good few days up in Hereford with Lucy.

Stopped off at the birdlip viewpoint in the Cotswolds (overlooking Glos) on the way:

Took a tour of the cider museum (and sampled a couple of cider related alcoholic beverages)… went to see the Mappa Mundi and generally did the tourist thing around Hereford.

It was really good to chill out, eat plenty of yum home cooked food and take a short stroll in queenswood:

There were also a couple of random animal encounters… donkeys in the field near my mums house, one of which saw us.. made the noise that only a donkey can make and ran off… the other came over to say hello.

Slightly more unusual were the family of ostriches though…

A weekend in Nottingham was just what the doctor ordered… A romantic Valentines day, spent with Anne Savage @ Dogma was wicked :D, albeit slightly frustrating as I’d liked to of had a good stomp – she played an awesome set, even if she didn’t smile.

Friday, went to see Juno – cool film – more of a chick flick than I expected, very good **** (Cloverfield got a Luke ***** btw) then to La Tasca for an evening of Tapas… very yum, only disappointment was a poor quantity on the Chorizo in red wine, still… £10 for a load of tapas was pretty damned good! And the Chocolate Orange Cheescake rates as the BEST DESSERT EVER.

Saturday, took a spin in the Nottingham eye:

the eye in the square – random view with shadow – the lovely lucy – town hall thing (?) with Sherwood in distance!

Then an amazing chinese buffet all you can eat for a bargain £6.50! More dishes than I could ever stomach including Tepenyaki and other choose n cook options… best bit? All you can eat dessert counter included! I’d like to say I just ate a good selection of the fruit… there may of been the odd bit of jelly… a cookie or two… a couple of scoops of choc ice cream and some fruit… :-)

Home on sunday ready for the long awaited Rheumatologist appt at the hospital tomo… hopefully, the beginning of the end of this stupid illness… at least maybe anther Steroid jab to perk my joints up.
