I’m well and truly shopped out… although I’ve not bought as many christmas presents as planned.

First up I went to Chatupak market on the train (HUGE crazy place), mooched around for a few hours,

I came back to the hotel and headed out to the world plaza/siam square and pratunam markets in town… yikes. There’s so much in every inch of space its dis-orienting.

By complete accident, I walked into a Gundamn Convention too!

Well thats it… I’m off to the airport in a couple of hours… next stop the UK (well.. dubai…)

              

haha, without a doubt something to add to my “things everyone should do once in their life” list!

A truly stunning, hysterical, crazy, colorful and downright entertaining evening…

Some of the “ladies” were scary, i think thats the best word, some were disturbingly almost beautiful… all were most definitely men… eek.

Woop! A nice relaxing (yet hectic) day today, had a swim then went on a temple tour (including boat ride) - I’ve got 45mins to kill (thanks to a mis-communication) before “the show” so I thought I’d upload these pics.

As the net connection is playing up you’ll have to work out which is which…

best laid plans n all that… tour didnt happen, its now tomo.. so wandered off into the markets and stuff, also took a tour round Jim thompsons house (the US guy who is credited with bringing thai silk to world stage)

Lovely old teac buildings that make up the museum/gallery.. note the tortoise in 1st pic… which i hadnt noticed when I took it! (animals!)

You cant see very well from these pics, but these are presses for dying fabric, they have sections of wood that press out so they can dye more than one colour, clever eh?

Well, I’ve touched down in bangkok… despite the fact I always describe it as the most crazy place i’ve ever been… an assault on every sense… I’d almost forgotten just how hetic it was here.

Although this is my second time here, it was much more intimidating (the craziness) being tired at 2/3am and on your own in a country where you speak about 4 words of the language..

the hotels a bargain (not too shabby) and pretty big… I chilled by the roof top pool for a bit earlier and took a jacuzzi later on to wind down. Theres 5 restaurants and a small shopping centre onsite as well as a walkway to the train station, its smack bang in the centre meaning its easy to get most places and theres all the usual stuff on your doorstep… but… fairly noisy all day n night, which i’m ok with.

Not done much today, some pool/book reading time, found my way around and had some awesome thai food - on my travels I found a 6 storey geek paradise, an IT market with gadgets as far as the eye could see in every flavour (they even had the elusive asus eee pc!)

Booked in for a temple tour tomo (there was only 1 thing I wanted to see but didn’t last time i was here) and I’m going to see a show next door thats highly rated by all the guidebooks… the calaypso cabaret (Vegas meets Ladyboys apparently!) - sounded funny and its literally underneath where I’m staying.
