new years resolutions for 2007

One of the great things about having your own blog, is being able to look back to find things you might of otherwise lost/forgotten… from favourite youtube clips you shared with the world, to pictures of holidays and… dum dum duuuuh… last years new year resolutions…

fireworks

Lets see how I did shall we?

1) Pier to Pier swim - physically this is quite a toughy, I WILL do it! (July)
- SUCCESS, raised £300+ and did it in 1 go.

2) Release an EP on a digital label
- FAIL - doh… didn’t make much time to work on tunes. One for 2008?

3) Australia for a month (Nov-ish)
- SUCCESS, wooo and a bit o’ thailand too.

4) Snog Cat Deeley / Jennifer Anniston or Jessica Alba (hmmmm)
- SUCCESS.. in my dreams… although I did gain a gorgeous super girl of my own (awww)

5) Buy freehold for this place - RTM company papers signed… on track!
- WIP (work in progress).. outside of my control one of the flats was repossessed, until the final owner is onboard this has to go on hold.

6) Buy another flat - this is a biggy, people keep telling me it can’t be done… damn you now I MUST make it happen!
- FAIL my choice though, I decided it was better to wait out the property market for a bit and ensure I wouldn’t be stretching myself too far too soon… another to consider for 2008… property market allowing of course!

7) Complete Master Practitioner NLP course (£2k… yikes)
- SUCCESS - Finished in Feb, without spending £2k either, tidy.

8) London to Brighton bike ride - Mr M did it last year… I’m with you this year chap! (June?)
- FAIL - Diary failure actually, stupid weddings…

9) Go to a football/rugby match - weird eh? Never been to one
- FAIL - completely forgot about this one, anyone want to take me to a match?

10) make Positive Link my full time job (re-launch comin‘ soon!)
- WIP - as the year developed my plan for PLink changed, its evolved…

By my maths…

SUCCESS = 4
FAIL = 4
WIP = 2

Final score = SUCCESS - FAIL = 4 - 4 = 0

hahaha :D

Erm… is that right? I guess you win some, you lose some!

2007 really was an average year overall, I like that…

EDIT - or do I? maybe i was a bit harsh, to not buy property could be seen as a success as it could quite likely of been a bad move… the bike ride clashing with a wedding wasn’t my fault either.. hmm… maybe its a +2??

Ok lets make some for 2008… first the ones from last year I want to carry over

1) Buy freehold for this place
2) make *super secret project formerly known as PLink* my full time job
3) Go to a football/rugby match

4) Publish the eBook
5) Swim Pier 2 Pier again, beating my time (health permitting)
6) ………. tbc?

ah well, 5 is a start.

HAVE A GREAT NEW YEARS EVE EVERYONE - SEE YOU IN 2008

it is almost 2008 people

Bugger… where did that come from?

I remember being a kid and seeing the date 2010 and thinking, wow… that’s like the future, with robots n video phones n spaceships for everyone!

Well… Asimo… mobiles (although video can be done, not really used much is it!?)… SpaceShipTwo launches soon to paying passengers… yikes, its almost the future little Lukey Williams!

You know what though… I haven’t got a feckin’ clue where next year is going.

I’ll be putting out the eBook soon… I know that much…

How long will I be creaky n ill? I dunno, still feel about the same, ankles still swollen, generally lacking in ooomph still. It aint gonna beat me, dog-nam-it!

Hmmmm…. new years resolutions?

1) publish eBook
2) Ummm… swim pier to pier (illness permitting)
3) Get fit?

odd… for me, not to have many plans. Still, that Maslow guy had it sussed din’t he… lets get my pyramid back in shape n off I go!

in other news, I got a letter from “public protection” at Bournemouth Council, being that Salmonella is a notifiable illness n that… I’m going to email them back with more details and hope they can help trace others who may/may not of been sick.

seasonal greetings?

i’ve struggled with belief for a while now. Torn between my desire to respect peoples beliefs, whilst at the same time being quite a firm atheist who thinks its all just… Well… About as likely as george bush being a secret reptilian overlord of the illuminate.

To this end i’m a signed up pastafarian, as many of you will of read before, how does this all sit when it comes to things like christmas?

It’s quite simple really, whilst i think religion is a complete farce, i have two good reasons to celebrate christmas, and indeed respect other religious things.. I offered a gift and respected the customs of temples in thailand… I usually do something on Chinese new year.. Etc etc

These 2 reasons are:
1 - i think its important to show respect for your own and other peoples culture and history, this doesn’t mean you have to believe in those things, simply that you have respect for those before you who did. Tradition gives us part of our identity, something thats starting to get lost in todays world.

2 - the values of these religious events hold true today, taking time to be with family at christmas should not be lost, just because i don’t believe some magic baby appeared 2000 years ago.

On that note, i wish you all a merry christmas, happy gift giving day.. Or whatever else this time of year means to you.

Emirates EK029 dec 03

I’m hoping the power of the google spider can help me here.

If you or someone else you know travelled on the following flight, I’d like to hear from you:

Dubai (DXB), United Arab Emirates to London Heathrow (LHR), United Kingdom

Flight number - EK029
(Airline - Emirates)

Departs 03 Dec 07 9:50 am Dubai
Arrives 03 Dec 07 1:30 pm London Heathrow

I’m especially interested in anyone who may of had food poisoning, diarrhoea or confirmed cases of Salmonella in the 24/48hr period following this flight.

I experienced symptoms approx 24 hours after eating on this flight and would love to confirm or eliminate it as a potential source.

Thanking you and merry seasonal greeting type things.

31 going on 93

That’s how I feel at the moment, the lack of energy continues and the joint pain shows no sign of letting up.

I’m limping round my house, barely able to stand (see pic of ankles - my worst affected joints) with no energy… pondering “what next?”.

Lukes Feets

I’m hoping the results tomo will allow the doctors to treat these symptoms more effectively, I’m not convinced ibuprofen is helping at all… the second course of antibiotics is just to ensure the salmonella is completely dead.

Anyway… What’s a blogger got to do to get some get well soon comments eh? Pffft… haha… I know you’re out there people! (hat tip to Sarah for the mention though)

If these symptoms continue, I’m going to need to make some drastic changes.. arse.

In better news, I’ve got some web work to do that’s keeping me sane and once that’s done I’ll be getting my book out, as for the future… I’ll deal with that when I have all the information I need.

sick and sad

Yay… I’ve got Salmonella! Lucky me… the first set of tests came back today and the reason for my illness has revealed itself. It gets better… I’ve likely got a secondary condition from the Salmonella which explains my continued lack of energy and aching joints… tests from that, due Thursday.

Salmonella

The even better part of this is… I’m under strict orders to do nothing for the next 10 days while i take another 2 sets of tablets and I have to be extra careful to wash my hands n stuff (which I do anyway) in case I infect those around me.

:-(

Its gonna be a tight Christmas, my insurance only covers terminal type illnesses so I’m going to have to muddle through on limited funds and bits of web design… no gigs, which is a big earner for me over this time of year.

Feeling sorry for myself now, sorry its not a happier post.
