fasten your seatbelts

This is your captain speaking, we’re expecting a certain level of turbulence ahead, please remain in your seats with your seatbelt securely fastened until further notice. Thank you.

fasten your seatbelt

A lot of things are not right at the moment, a lot of things are changing at the moment, round and round it goes… where it stops, nobody knows… not yet anyway. hmmm.

*mood - reflective*

anyway… things I’m doing to rectify the situation:

1) deliberation - taking stock and time to plan.
2) organisation - I’m moving towards a GTD system (one inbox and a proper process)
3) integration - making better use of XML, RSS and other “web 2.0″ things to tighten up my online world.

  • YouTube videos posting straight here (never got round to setting up the api/xmlrpc thing)
  • using RSS feeds for blogs I read to stop my wandering around the net
  • setting igoogle as my homepage
  • using igoogle as my one stop inbox (calendar/to do/rss feeds… again!)

is lisp onomatopoeic??

Grrrrrrrrrrrr…….

Damn you flatmate! If a question goes in my head and I can’t find the answer, I find it really hard to let go…

it seemed quite an easy question: is “lisp” an onomatopoeic word? (Does it sound like the thing its describing…)

Hmmm… time to consult some experts…

It might be, but I don’t think so, because it doesn’t sound like what it describes! Like plop for example. (a Teacher)

I wouldn’t say it was. People with lisps would prounounce “lisp” like “lithp”. (an English language undergraduate)

What do you think? Is it… or not… I keep changing my mind!

Hereford, Llanthony and the Black Mountains

Some photos for you from the weekend… a stag weekend in Hereford and Llanthony, plus some snaps from the surrounding Black Mountains I took on the Sunday.

For those that don’t know, we (myself, guy and giles plus loads of others through the years) used to all camp at Llanthony every year in the summer for a weekend, first time I went was about erm… 15 years ago, I think this is my 8th time there now - amazing place. Shocking news… the campsite we use has upped its price from £1 per person per night then to… £3!!! not exactly bank breaking is it.

birthday plans

In light of the fact I’m getting a year older on wednesday, you’re all invited to join me at Bar Fruit on Thursday at 8pm for a mojito or 3.

mojito

I’m also planning a post-bank holiday chilled bbq on monday if anyone fancies it.

ffffffffff now I’ve hit that 3 prefix birthdays have lost their sheen… still, if weather holds n I get drunk enough, maybe a late night beach “race” is on the cards… any takers? ;-)

That said, there are certain signs I’m actually growing up (maturing if you will)… one of them stood out to me over the weekend, when I realised I had more types of tea than alcohol in my kitchen… I’m lovin my green tea with ginseng btw…
