more super-DJ-stardom globe trotting of sorts

Monday/Tuesday was taken up playing a last minute booking with the fabulous cut-up boys for a private event in Abersoch North Wales, very rock n roll as I had to catch a flight from Southampton to Manchester and then be picked up (with the cut up boys) by a driver and taken the remainder of the journey.

We got free drinks all night (although I only had 2, gotta think of the swim!), a cool hotel room each… had a wicked time, the pic below is the view from the terrace outside where we played and then me with the cut-up boys at the end of the night:

Had to get up early the next morning to meet the driver for a full welsh (english) breakfast at 8, then off to the airport to land 24hrs on the nose to when I left… spooky.

For those of you that don’t know where Abersoch is (I didn’t) here’s a map

the Cerne Abbas Giant (Homer Simpson)

Being a gorgeous day, I persuaded my flatmate to remove herself from daytime TV and take another road trip… to see the giant homer at Cerne Abbas!

I’ve been to see the giant dude a few times and NEVER seen so many people there as today! Both car parks were full, with cars on verges n stuff, must be good for local shops n stuff… we took a walk up the side of the giant homer…

amusingly though, no-one in the press seems to of picked up on the name of the nearest street… which is just a bit round the corner and with homer almost visible from a different angle!

when training becomes habit

I’ve been thinking about diet n fitness post swim.

Trainings become a habit now, at first it was hard to make myself to go but now I think I’ll probably carry on as I am. Certainly the changes I’ve made to my diet I’ll keep, I’ll swim once a week, maybe not 120 though as it takes ages!

Time specific quantifiable goals… thats what its all about.

I can’t make bike club monday night :( I’m DJing in abersoch :) , apologies, reckon it’ll be a nice day for it though.

my Lotus Elise destiny??

I had a truly spooky co-incidence today… I took the bike out for a spin, not serious training but a good blast to clear the cobwebs n have a think…

Trundling along I was thinking about my goals and plans, I’m just thinking “yeah, I think I’d still like a Lotus Elise…” turn the corner and there’s about 20 of the bleedin’ things parked all the way along westover road!

It’s a sign I tell you, his noodliness wants me to get one!

tidal waves and other watery updates

Its been a week of watery fun.

1) On tuesday we had a flat mate outing to Thorpe Park to ride every rollercoaster (weeeeee, wooop woooop!) and the Tidal Wave water ride, now when I see on a poster “you will get very wet” I’ll understand what it means.

Post tidal wave wetness

2) Today saw another sea swim in the Pier to Pier training, 4 groynes against the tide and 4 back… seeing how against is at least twice as hard (and that it took about the same time as it takes me to swim 120 lenghts in a pool) going against the tide this makes roughly 12 groynes I swam in the sea… which is cunningly the same I have to swim Pier to Pier in 10 days! Holy FSM I’m knackered.

Being that all things come in 3’s (watery things included)…

3) Ironing some (wet - see there is a link there…) shirts today I realised a few things about my wider life goals… I want to get to the point where I can pay someone to iron shirts for me. No, no its not a lazy thing… it’s quite logical. A) I’m bad at ironing shirts, I’ve tried… read articles n been shown… I’m just not good at it! B) It takes a lot of my precious time. So for efficiency and qualities sake I am reminded of one of lifes success rules (cue cheesy american infomercial type voice): Don’t waste time on things you’re not good at. Work out the cost of your time to do it vs the cost of someone else doing it and factor in the outcome quality (crinkly vs presentable!) to determine if its better to get someone else to do it.

Hmmm I need to apply that to a few other areas!

Sorry if its been ages since my last blog, its all been hecticamondo! I’ve done an extra show or two on FIRE… covered a couple of extra gigs here n there and BAM!!! A weeks gone… geeky loser confession… I’ve had cravings to blog… comes back to that internet addiction thing I guess!

Anyway… almost done for now, just a quickie to say I’m playing at Toko on Friday, Censo on saturday is the first of my new residency (I’ll be bi-weekly from Aug 4th - see myspace for dates) then monday… assuming its confirmed (looks 98% on so far) I’m flying to a gig in glamourous… sunny… erm… north wales! Woooooo! Well it is with the cut up boys and I get a hotel so it’ll do me.

Peace out peeps… if you’ve not already… SPONSOR ME!!! >>>>>>>>>>>>

the end of the world as we know it

Is today the end of the world as we know it… or will it turn out to be a big old marketing hoax?

“say what?”

I’m talking about the Steorn Orbo

“Orbo produces free, clean and constant energy - that is our claim. By free we mean that the energy produced is done so without recourse to external source. By clean we mean that during operation the technology produces no emissions. By constant we mean that with the exception of mechanical failure the technology will continue to operate indefinitely.

The sum of these claims for our Orbo technology is a violation of the principle of conservation of energy, perhaps the most fundamental of scientific principles. The principle of the conservation of energy states that energy can neither be created or destroyed, it can only change form.

Because of the revolutionary nature of our claim, not only to the world of science but to the world in general, Steorn issued a challenge to the scientific community in August 2006 to test our technology and report their findings. The process of validation that has resulted from this challenge is currently underway, with results expected by the end of 2007.”

If the rumours are true, its going to be unveiled at 6pm today in London.

Today we find out, is this one of the best marketing scams ever… or a device which will revolutionise the world.

Remind anyone of the whole segway hype? I’m sure they said by 2007 we’d be re-designing our cities…

Anyway… I know which outcome I’d prefer and its the not the same as the one I’m expecting!

UPDATE: demo moved to midday (GMT or ET not clear) on Thursday…

UPDATE2 (from engadget): Holy snakeoil Batman, The Steorn Orbo exhibition has been canceled. According to a press release by Steorn CEO (and lead shyster) Sean McCarthy, the company “will explore alternative dates for the public demonstration.” Yeah, right. If the heat from the lights was really an issue for the on-site built device, why didn’t they: 1) turn off the lights, or 2) fly in the so-called working “free energy” device from Dublin? After all, they still have 9 days left to exhibit. Lame.
