doesn’t the Thames go through London…

have I missed something, no news agencies seem to be discussing the floods hitting London… by my maths if its still raining and the river flows through to London… won’t London be next? Or will that Thames barrier thingy make it ok? Still I’m supsrised that with the amount of news hours talking about the floods… London doesn’t even get a nod.

Ah well… guess we’ll find out in a couple of days whe it gets downstream…

so, what next?

Hmmm. Finishing something you set out to do always feels like an anti-climax to me. The short lived buzz that I did it, quickly drops to a “what next?”

So… what next?

Hmmmm…..

Busy weekend ahead, on air tonight then Toko tomo night… get up and off to a wedding on saturday. Then I’m taking a day or two out up in Hereford to plan. I’d like to fit in a Transformers and Simpsons movie somewhere soon as well… doh.

Time specific, quantifiable goals… thats the motto.

Any suggestions welcome.

water

The swims done, I did what I set out to: swim it in one go. Caught the sun a bit, which was kinda nice, given the weather recently!

The bigger news to me is that my mum and her friend came down for a few days holiday and have had to book another night in their hotel as the floods had cut off the village where they live on sunday (although it’s passable again today).

one of the main roads in the centre of town in Hereford now looks like this (widemarsh street):
floods in hereford

The normal route back goes via Gloucester… erm… nope don’t think thats a good idea… we spent part of this morning looking at possible alternate routes for tommorow which should be clear. I’m finding it hard to take in the scale of the floods, you see muddy fields on the news, I recognize so many places having driven through them for years and it’s so large its incredible.

The penultimate Pier to Pier swim update

Tis only a few days till the Pier to Pier swim, one more training session tomo, woooo! Looking at forecast n stuff, it looks likely there’ll be some waves to contend with on sunday making it a bit harder going… still the ambition remains to swim it in one go.

BIG THANKS
to everyone who’s sponsored me so far, I’ve exceeded my £250 target (any more greatfully rec’d by sunday please).

FIRE want to run a feature on me doing the swim on air, so I’ll be popping in tomo to be interviewed by the news team, which’ll be weird… they also want me to stick on a branded t-shirt when I get out the sea.

This will most likely be my last blog, pre-swim, as my mum’s coming to town this weekend and I have a show and gig to squeeze in before sunday… so the next update, will be post-swim!! eeek…
