Read More(yes I did mean to put health twice.. it’ll make sense shortly..)
Diet – I’ve changed my diet in in the last month or so, in line with training. More protein (lean), almost zero processed food, only 1 sweet thing a day (which is well hard for a sweet tooth like me) and bigger breakfasts… plus I’m now drinking green earl grey tea, which is way nice. Hmmm… bugger, I’m almost sounding old n sensible… quick, better go out n punish my liver…
Health (sexual) – It’s national condom week this week, so remember to carry one on you when you go out in case you get lucky… if nothing else, to hold 14 pints of beer in. No really… I got an email yesterday about the Condom Essential Wear program, as we’ll be talking about it on FIRE… apparently you can fit 14 pints in one… say what?? There’s a big part of me that wants to try that… but it seems a waste of beer and well, I wouldn’t drink it afterwards… seriosuly though “carrying a condom is as essential as carrying a mobile phone, a wallet/purse or a lip gloss!” and I never leave home without lip gloss, ever.
Health (dental) – woooo! A minor private victory, but for the first time in ages I got the thumbs up from the dentist… she even seemed impressed and… no fillings or anything! For those of you unaware of the history… I had issues a few years back getting a dentist that resulted in me pulling my own tooth out… anyway, all groovy now!
Fitness – Yesterday I hit and exceeded my training target again, swimming a cool 100 lengths (2500m = roughly 1.6 miles) in just over an hour (67mins but who’s counting) YEAH BABY! I did have zero energy for the rest of the day but I’m very pleased to of passed the magic 96 lengths mark (the distance of the actual pier to pier swim).
>>>>> Sponsor me, or the baby seal gets it! >>>>>
(go on, I made the little banner flash n everything)

This is a geeky post, if you normally read my other stuff.. i’d just skip over this one…
*geeking begins*
I’ve seen a couple of places now, where people are asking questions about using VoIP via mobile data connections, for example:
How are they going to be able to monitor what data trafffic is Skype / P2P etc.. and not just a browser… (from MarkyP)
It worries me that on soooo many internet forums with self styled mobile gurus, no-one seems to know the answer… which is (to use an american-ism) internet traffic 101! Its basic net knowledge for any decent geek. (no diss intended to mr P!)
I’m going to try n make this as un-geeky as possible and acknowledge that, yes, if you’re an uber-geek I’m not using all the correct definitions of words or explanations of the 7 layer OSI model… purely to try n make it easier to understand.
Internet traffic has layers, at the bottom you have physical connection (a cable/wifi/mobile data – 3G etc) then you have TCP/IP which tells this packet of data to go to this place and then application layers on top, these layers all surround the actual data and tell it how its used because, in the end, it’s all 1′s n 0′s kids!
(read about the OSI model on wikipedia if you really want to know more)
By examining each packet that goes through their network gateways etc, they can see what service you’re using… FTP/http/SIP/VoIP etc.
This is how mobile networks can stop you using “all you can eat” unlimited data tarriffs for VoIP to get free calls, for me, I only use Fring via WiFi on my Nokia N95, pretty much everytime I’ve wanted to use it theres been a wifi network I can use (ahem.. or borrow
).
*geeking ends*

Vs

John Sweeney of the BBC claims to of been subject to all manner of hostility whilst trying to make a documentary about Scientology. Harrassed, followed, shouted at, friends n family subject to similar treatment, meant that at one point during filming he lashes out at one of their spokesmen and they’ve made a complaint.
Whats interesting to me is how aggressively this religion/cult has persued him simply for asking questions, what do they have to hide? I cant wait to find out. Watch it people, dont live life blind!

Strikes me that there are 2 kinds of people, well 2 ends with a load in the middle.
Those that see the world the way it really is, that see through the media/political spin… the endless advertisements… and exercise independent thought.
and those who just “believe the hype”.
Recently there have been soooo many press stories that once you actually understand whats going on, you realise that its not the issue you thought it was. Makes you wonder how/why it got spun in that way.
I’m really questioning my beliefs on a lot of issues at the moment, from religion (I almost believe it should not be tolerated), aid to africa (the more I read, the more it seems counter-productive), politics (I didn’t vote, there seemed no difference between the candidates and no-one green) and the meaning of life.
Right now, I wish I was ignorant, it must be a lot easier.
Anyway, I’m waffling, it’s time for bed and I have to get up to go to Londinium tomo. Have a good weekend y’all.
