I quit

I went in today and I realised that I have much better things to do with my life than working for that company a moment longer.

So, I did my morning briefing to the team, wrote a letter of resignation, picked up my picture frame and calmly walked out… I don’t think most people will even of realised I’ve left yet.

Now what? Not sure yet… stay tuned!

PS Damn that felt good….

Working Life?

I’m starting to really question myself, to lose confidence in who I am and what I can do.

Shit.

ohh.. bugger it, I maybe shouldn’t write this here… but i’m gonna…

I’m feeling really trapped and un-happy in my current workplace, I think I have to get out pronto – maybe even before I have something else to go to…

The problem with this is not so much the money (which is an issue), but that I’ll of moved on twice in 3 months (although both were temp contracts)… maybe it’s me????

I’ve not worked in a proper office for 4 years… am I just expecting too much?

Can anyone compare these to their own place and tell me honestly if I’m being picky:

- The turnover of staff is disturbing (7 in the 6 weeks I’ve been there… out of a team of 30!) – significant numbers of staff are actively seeking alternative employment.

- The atmosphere is oppressive; temperature in the office today hit 28, with no air con and only a few fans… add to this a dusty, cluttered and overcrowded office space with only my desk plant to break it up… and you get me with a layer of sweaty-grime at the end of each day.

- The job is nothing like it was described, I’m spending my entire time doing sickness and lateness interviews, timesheets, performance improvement, formal and disciplinary hearings… barely any coaching or process analysis… when I do, I’m ignored at meetings to the point where I’m left to feel an utter idiot.

- The pay was advertised as a basic + bonus, guaranteed to rise after 3 months and then it turns out to be just the basic, no bonus structure even in place and no chance of a rise.

you know what, that’s not even the half of it… I really didn’t want to rant on, it’s not like me.

Aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

…how do you sign on the dole then? :(

EDITED: Arses, I just read this all back, what a whinger… sorry, there are some things more serious I just couldn’t write here… ignore this whole entry. I’m working on a Plan B.

the beeb goes gorilla

Call me a skeptic… but it’s just too convenient a news story that tapes for the new series of Robin Hood were stolen in advance of it’s launch.

Hands up who even knew about this series before the story broke??

Hmmm

Think back to Doctor Who… how did that get a lot of publicity… oh hold on… an episode got “leaked” onto the intenet

Co-incidence?

Me thinks not

Cleverish gorilla marketing to build hype?

Me thinks so

the BBC gorilla

Bugger… it worked too… damn them!

Although if I’d known it was in production, I’d of probably got all excited anyway.

Robin Hood, King Arthur and Superman are probably my favourite childhood heros/legends… Lucas finally made Star Wars Episodes 1-3… now all we need is someone to make a Transformer movie and I’m happy as Larry…

(yes I know, it’s in production… how cool is that going to be????)

healthy living…?

Not sure I should admit to this one, but feel the need to share with the group….

Since drinking faaaarrrrr too much on my birthday celebration last saturday (19th) I vowed not to drink again, for a while…

It lasted till tuesday (22nd – my actual birthday), albeit just the one Uncle Jack n Aunty Cola.

Oh yeah… and well… um, I had to have a couple on thursday for my mate Chris’s (aka ralph) birthday…

and you know Paul van Dyke isn’t in Bournemouth very often so the odd drink before/during/after is to be expected… right?

…frankly not drinking at the wedding on saturday was very unlikely to begin with… although I’m not sure shots of Tequila Rose (officially THE nastiest shot in the world) was in the plan… or carrying on at censo till silly o’clock… or afterwards at my house…

Well… turning down free drinks while DJing on a bank holiday sunday is just rude… as would be not carrying on aftwards for some silly dancing with Dan + Dan @ Frolic…

and that leaves me here, entirely un-refreshed after a bank holiday… but quite happy with the places I’ve been and people I’ve seen.

Thanks to the wonders of

a) knowing club owners/managers almost everywhere in town
and
b) being bought drinks for my birthday
plus
c) Fixing a sound system where my mate was playing and being given drinks to say ta

I didn’t actually spend that much in last 8 days… especially when you consider I visited 12 different drinking establishements (most of which were clubs) in 6 days of going out clubbing!

So back to the working week… and the joy that brings [cough... ahem...]

I am now officially in detox…

…until the lovely Oddny’s birthday on sat!

change

I embrace change more than most, but right now is definately a “stop the world, I want to get off” moment… things must change, they can’t continue the way they are now… time for some tough decision making.

Also: hold on to your horses people… I’m off to Oz… more details to follow.

Need sleep now. bye.
