A hero

Brian Haw has been protesting in parliment square against the Iraq war since 2 june 2001. Now that’s dedication to a cause, you have to admire.

In order to remove this man, the government passed a law making it illegal to protest within 1 mile of parliment, without permission (ignoring the injustice of that for a minute…).

Brian’s team appealed and won, on the grounds his protest pre-dated the legislation.

Yesterday the government won its appeal and so they can now legally arrest him under this new legislation.

I think it’s sad that he can’t continue his protest, who was he harming exactly?

the buck stops here

The buck stops here!

It’s easier to blame everyone and everything else in life than yourself, but where does that get you? Nowhere.

Sometimes you just need to say to yourself those immortal Truman words: “the buck stops here”, take control of your life, your situation or your responsibilities.

I’ve been letting things slide a bit recently, quite a lot actually, ticking along… filling my time with useless crap that was, frankly, getting me nowhere fast.

Today I re-learnt that the buck stops here and now I’m back on it… my mojo’s coming back baby… look out world.

Aliens do not exist, it’s official!

According to an MOD report compiled in 2000, and just released under the Freedom of Information Act, entitled: Unidentified Aerial Phenomena in the UK

“No evidence exists to suggest that the phenomena seen are hostile or under any type of control, other than that of natural physical forces.”

Not that conspiracy theorists will believe it anyway… this got me thinking about the whole deal….

There are some issues that never go away… why is that?

I think it incredibly stupid to think that it’s impossible that life exists in some form on other planets, does this mean I believe we’ve been visted by extra-terrestrials? No, I don’t think it’s been proven yet.

Luke’s Theory

See, the universe is ridiculously large… and then some… and then some more times ten… and then just for good measure a bit bigger still… at current estimates around 400,000,000,000 stars… so say 5 planets per star, thats… um… carry the 2… 2000 billion planets… ok…

BUT, the chances of life developing on any given planet are small, really small… like the chances of me winning the lottery, seeing how I buy maybe 1 ticket a year tops…. lets say, 1 in a billion?

That makes roughly 2000 planets that have life on them! Hypothetically 1 in 100 is more advanced than us, so we have 20 planets with advanced civilizations on them, possibly capable of space travel over vast distances.

What does all of this prove? Um, not much… it just kept me amused for 10mins

…saturday feeling

In a word… bleurgh!

Oops…

The intention was good, go to slinky’s 9th birthday… catch up with a few people… set yourself a tight budget (£20) and go home when its spent… I didn’t factor in a few things though…

1) Drinking before going out

2) Getting a couple of people in free with me, who then bought me drinks

3) Not paying for many drinks because I know the managment… who were on a mission to get everyone hammered (well it was the 9th birthday)

From £20, including a taxi there and back… I still had £4 left somehow… so a planned 1am finish… actually ended up at about 6am a bit worse for wear.

Well, I had a wicked night, saw a load of people, met some important faces and I got up at a reasonable hour so the days not wasted!

Quiet one for me tonight…

Friday Feelin’!

Maybe its the sun… maybe its the fact I’ve landed some AWESOME gigs… maybe its because I finally have some tunes heading out into the world and some more remix work coming up… maybe I’ve gone insane… maybe… just maybe… it was recording a savage mix last night… but look out world, I’m coming to get ya!

to quote my mate Adam when he heard the mix this morning…

“Jeesus, ridiculous isn’t even the word…. we need to invent a new word like superfilthafragalisitcexpidirtylicious for this one”

a mix… not for the feint hearted, 60mins of pure dirty-nasty-techy-electro-house…

Addiction!

What is it with me? Do I have an addictive personality?

First of all I got hooked on Neighbours (I’ve got that in check now)… I continually try (and fail) to give up chocolate and sweets, although I no longer feel the need for my daily creme egg…

Now, its cherry coke! Why? I dunno… I just had a can the other day n now I’m hooked… of course the first step is realising you have a problem (which I did when I saw a stack of empty Cherry coke cans in my recycling bin)… now to treat it.

Hmm… there’s a caffeine theme… maybe its that?

Grrrrrrraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa…..
