Rachel Myers?

Today is an appeal for information, on the whereabouts of Rachel Myers!

Allow me to explain… I met up with an old friend Sarah (aka “Tiger”) last night, and as is always the case when you meet up with someone you’ve not seen for ages: talk of old times and lost friends always comes around. All of our old friends, I’m still in touch with in some way… be it seeing around, or email/msn… except one.

We have talked before about finding our mutual friend, as she is the reason we met years ago… I had a spare room in my house, she knew a friend who needed a place to stay - ta da.

So, what do we know:

Name: Rachel Myers

Lives: Still in the Bournemouth area (possibly Ringwood?), a chance encounter meant that Sarah missed her by minutes at the Landmark opening a couple of weeks ago.

Grew up: She grew up in the fantastically British sounding “Six penny hanley” near Ringwood.

Family: She has a little girl who must be about 8 now (maybe 9… or 7!)

Interests: I knew Rachel as a Madisons regular in about ‘94, she used to be a regular at “the venue” as well.

Appearance: Above average height, used to have long blonde hair and quite attractive (did a bit of modelling)

There will be prizes for anyone that can help.

What to do from here? Hmmm….
(Sarah, if you can think of any info I’ve missed, please remind me!)

Naked ramblers, I salute you

Naked RamblersHooray for the naked rambler (and his Bournemouth partner), who completed their walk yesterday.

I think it’s great that someone believes so much in their right to walk the land naked, that they’ll walk from end to end of this country, knowing that he’ll get arrested.

Is the human body really that offensive?

If he was flashing his tadger around and going “wooooohhhhhaaaa” maybe I’d agree it was indecent exposure, but he was so obviously just a rambler it strikes me as ridiculous.

Why did anyone complain anyway? Surely everyone knew full well that they were walking the length of the country, had I been out in the countryside and seen two people walking naked, I’d of just thought “oh cool, its those naked ramblers!”… probably gone and said hello and taken a picture!

Confession time…

On my birthday a couple of years ago, we had a naked beach race. On the blow of a whistle 5 of us threw our clothes and caution to the wind, and legged it round the agreed course.

It’s the second time we’ve done this at silly o’clock in the morning, after a drink or maybe two… and I dare say it wasn’t the last!

The first time was after far too many beers at a beach party, it seemed like a good idea and being dark we assumed most people at the party, wouldn’t notice… we forgot that someone blowing a whistle at 5am tends to make people look… even funnier as we didn’t realise EVERYONE was watching till we rounded the half way mark… strangely the return leg was much faster…

The biggest memory in both of these was the immense feeling off freedom that came from saying, “you know what… this is me and I’m proud of it… RUN… feck, its cold!” The winner of the second race (who we’ll call C) had been witness to the first race and always regretted not competing, C won the second race and I’m pretty sure ranks it as one of her proudest moments!

So thats my naked/streaking confessions out in the open… well… apart from the time Carl had a birthday wish that…

Who is the “enemy”?

Anyone else feel like someone, somewhere is pushing buttons?

I think I’m a reasonable, moderate, easy going kinda guy - I think I’m starting to feel like we’re headed into “the west vs the muslims”.

I can’t help it. Logically, I know I shouldn’t but there is just such a propoganda effort being staged from somewhere and I find it so offensive that anyone could behave like this… which got me thinking, maybe this isn’t real? How do I know that the “neo-conservatives”, the “illuminati” the 3rd Prince of Saud or Osama Bin Laden isn’t just twisting things around???

Maybe the US government did fabricate 9/11… there sure are some weird questions I’d like to see answered and they sure as hell seem corrupt to the core.

As for the conspiracy theories, who knows. I believe there are powerful people in the world, do they meet in secret places and plan out the new world order? Hmmm.

I have a few favourite sayings in life, I think this is the best one for today:

“don’t believe the hype”

Most random night ever!

Ever feel like some things, or combination of things could only happen to you? (or maybe you think only these things could happen to me!)

In the space of 24hrs, I went from having no plans on valentines day… to working a chocolate fountain at a big gay swedish/irish wedding… complete with gaydar FM dj… and an award winning drag act… at Madam Tussauds in London!

Throughout the course of the evening, I kept finding myself thinking… Is this how I thought my life would turn out?!?

The bad bits:

Driving a transit van into central London at rushhour - not fun.

Having to parallel park said transit van 4 times between expensive looking cars - nervewracking… as its only my second time driving that big a van, still I reckon I’ve got it mastered now.

The weather! God-damnit… Torrential rain + harsh gusts that nearly blew me off the road, is not fun, especially at 2am… Is THIS how I thought my life would turn out? 29 years old, been on my own all valentines afternoon and evening, driving home to an empty bed.

Hmmm.

Still, what an experience the wedding was! The couple had won a prize from “big gay weddings” (I’m guessing what this company does… can you?!) which included a wedding cake made by the people who made madonna + guy richies, the craziest drag act I’ve ever seen… words couldn’t even begin to explain! Food from some 5* chef, a chocolate fountain (duuuh) and the venue of Madam Tussauds ballroom.

The speeches… christ alive, they should have a show on the comedy channel!

I knew it wasn’t going to be the usual speeches, by a scan around the (shall we say) obvious flamboyance of the guests…

Anyway, the mother of the bride (Yes… Alan was called the bride all night!) started preceedings with a reference to her son coming home and telling her about this great man she’d met “I knew he was special when Alan told me he’d met a fabulous man who’d given him some handcream for his flaky skin…” and it went downhill from there!

I learnt a few things:

1) Swedish weddings have a tradition whereby anyone who wants to speak does (the speeches went on till 1030!)
2) Irish people (well quite a few) can ACTUALLY dance like riverdance
3) The chocolate admiration heirarchy is not: Women > Children > Men as I previously thought… it is Gay men > Women > Children > Men!
4) Transit vans “turn in” to corners, so always go in backwards to parallel park!
5) Richard Branson is quite a short arse! (well his waxwork is anyway)
6) I’d be a lot more bored/lonely without my mobile and friends to keep me sane.

Is this the way I want my life to turn out?

Rich in experiences, varied and chaotic… often working weird, lonely hours… I guess so.
