Religious beliefs

If I visit a country abroad, I feel rude if I’ve not even tried to learn a bit of the language.

To go somewhere and assume that they will understand your language, I think is a tad arrogant.

So I find myself pondering, (thanks to the ever so slightly provocative thinkings of Shane) Why would anyone live in a country they hated?

It doesn’t make any sense to me.

Now I respect everyones religion, I honestly do, I personally might not agree with them but I think they’re welcome to believe in whatever they choose. (within certain boundaries of course)

When Omar Bakri Mohammed said on BBC news last night, he would not co-operate with the government in any way if he knew of an impending terror attack planned against the UK I feel confused.

He’s Syrian and clearly holds no regard or respect for the UK. Why would you live in a country that you so strongly oppose? Everything from its ideals, politics and people??

I hope that no-one reads this as some form of racist propoganda, I’ve tried to reference every source for you to make your own conclusions.

For once, I’m not going to put my full thoughts online. Make up your own minds about this man.

Raaaaaaaaaa!

I’m working on getting a new routine going, waking earlier and exercising more to give me more energy.

It’s working well.

As part of my new start, I’m researching and writing a series of articles. Whilst reading about motivation I found this quote which, well frankly, says everything I want to… I don’t think I could put it any better so here it is:

‘Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone
else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma - which is living
with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the
noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice.

And most important, have the courage to follow your heart
and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly
want to become.

Everything else is secondary.’

Kim, Aggie and Luke?

How clean is your house?

Well mine was pretty bad and covered in sand, thanks to a post-beach-bbq drinking/poker session at mine on sat night. (a whole other story!)

Never fear… cyclone vac thing to the rescue!

… except it started getting hot and um, not working.

Hmmm… emptied the collector thing… click, ffffffrrrrr (not much better)

Took a pipe off, poked around a bit and pulled some fluff out… click fffrrrrrrsssssshhhh (a bit better)

“Bugger it” me thinks… took it to bits and pretty much chucked all of it in the bath (filters, pipes, collector thing, covers…) and showered it!

Amazingly, now it works better than ever! (after letting it dry)

TADA! How to make your bagless vac work again.

Can’t change? Rubbish!

TV could change your life!!! If you do one thing tonight watch Paul McKenna at 9pm on Sky One, a truly talented man, who fully understands the brain and what it can achieve.

See, if you think you “can’t” do something, yep… its more than likely you won’t… does that mean it was actually impossible? No.

Life is what you make it.

If you decided to run the London marathon, would you expect to then be able to do it the next day?

Of course not! You’d have to train… practice, research and prepare for some time… and then you could run the marathon.

So why do people expect development of their mind to be any easier??

If you believe you can’t do something, ask yourself honestly if it is impossible?

Didn’t go perfectly first time? …so what?!

Did you give up as a kid the first time you tried to ride a bike and fell off?

No. (or if you did, man… you ARE a wiener!)

So next time you want to give up smoking, lose weight, change your way of thinking… and you revert back to old behaviours. Don’t give up, think of it as a grazed knee, watch the other kids enjoying riding without stabilizers and go do it again!

“Luke Dubyah” in retirement?

Yes, Kinda.

I’ve been making some tough decisions recently and I think its time to announce (and where better than here?) that I’ve decided my direction.

I’ve been faced with a choice:

1) Push the DJing, keep working silly hours without any free weekends, in a shrinking bitchy industry.
2) Get a 9-5 job for a year or so to build up some money.
3) Gamble my savings on setting up my business empire.

Well, I think you can guess which one I’m going for!

So, if someone asks me what I do from now on, I “run a small web portal offering Life Coaching products and services”.

Music is now officially my hobby again.

I’ll always love music and where I’ve gone wrong in the past is to do either one or the other, after a while I miss music so much I lose interest in whatever else I’m doing or in contrast I get sucked into working 4 nights a week (spending days on crap like chasing unpaid invoices) and not enjoying my gigs or chasing my dreams.

No more. It’s all about balance.

Music production and my radio show will still play a part in my life. Promoting events, managing other DJ’s and chasing clubs around will not, its just something I don’t want to do anymore. (If someone books me for a gig, I’ll still do it as long as its a turn up ‘n’ play deal)

Anyway, I’ll soon be re-launching my coaching website to include a Blog type content section with tips on all aspects of life.. confidence, motivation, decisions, planning… you get the idea! (plus with less feedback) This site will become more personal with pictures and random thoughts, linking only from here to there and not in return.

So there, I’ve let you all in on part of my master plan… a mwah ha ha haaaa!

Wow, that was like a public service announcment!

mis-communications

I spotted a couple of good ones last night and it got me thinking about how dangerous txt (and equally IM) messages can be.

Communication is so complex, bodylanguage, inflection, eye contact… its easy to forget about all that when you send a reply.

It’s so easy to mis-interpret though isn’t it? I think this mis-interpretation gives great insight into oneself.

“Yeah cool” was the message in question, (after a greater than usual time to respond) a reply to a question about plans to meet.

1) I assumed it was a good response, time to reply and shortness probably due to being busy.

2) Ms A assumed it was a non-commital “what-ev-aaa” or not really interested reply

3) Ms B (the recipient) assumed it was bad, it had no “kisses” or other affectionate statements, thereby meaning something must be wrong (length of reply factored in here)

Who was correct? Well, on reflection, I guess it could of been any of us!

What do these assumptions really mean?

Well, for the record, if you ever message me and I’m on air or deep in a studio project… an answer thats just a couple of words, just means I’m busy!

Ms A, could well of been on the nail, although she did change her response to sounds ok, see how it goes tomo… so I guess in hindsight probably the best response when you don’t know, you don’t know!

Ms B, well… seems to me she either knows more about the situation or person than we do (which is true) or has low self esteem at the moment and assumes the worst.

Weird eh… all that from 2 words!
